There is a scary place at BYU. It is the little crevice that has been bored down through debating and contesting on the point where LDS ideology meets the most secular areas of studying: political debate, and all its applications. It is a place where the promptings of the Spirit and the simplicities of the gospel are more easily glazed over, where the truth is viewed through squinted eyes until it becomes so diminished that it is a distant and inconsequential dim light. That is where it gets dangerous.
After increasing opportunities to indulge in this crevice, the most recent one an interesting and close-to-home experience, I come out on the other side grateful for the promptings of the Spirit, the reliability of the Authorities' words, and the love of the Father.
