Challenge #2: Rework a previously written sonnet."When the Leaves Lie"
When Autumn calls the leaves whence they came ‘fore
Upon their visage can be newly seen
The hue, which ne’er had filled their veins, of gore
Professing acts of that cold, impish feign.
A reeking murder invisible becomes
The shield of white newly drawn makes it so:
Reflecting off illuminating light
Whereby all see (though judgments now forego).
A merry time cometh whils’t passersby swoon
Whils’t underfoot drying, stiff’ning leaves foun’;
A lie as full and open as the moon
Confessions browned ‘til returnèd back down.
Mother Nature sees protection given
The same, herself? else for b’loved children?
